Fuel and exhaust systems-existing Jetronic fuel injection – 16 valve engines K-

The components of the K-existing Jetronic fuel injection system mounted on the 1.8-litre 16V engine are shown (see illustrations). All procedures are the same as described in section b of this chapter, with the exception of those in the following sections.
2-idle speed adjustment
1. Start the engine at normal operating temperature, then check that all electrical components are disabled. Note that the electric cooling fan should not be running during the procedure for adjustment.
2. disconnect the Crankcase Ventilation hose (see illustration).
3. connect a tachometer and an exhaust gas analyser to the engine.
4. If the injector pipes are removed and converted just prior to adjustment, run the engine up to 3000 RPM several times, then leave it to the non-active for at least two minutes.
5. Verify that when the ignition is turned on, is the control valve idle stabilisation heard buzz. If that is not the case, check the system with reference to part 3.
6. pull the plug of the wiring for the non-active stabilisation system. This is located near the ignition coil (see illustration).
7. leave the engine to idle and make sure the idle speed 1000 ± 50 min-1. If necessary, remove the CAP and turn the idle speed screw if needed (see illustration).
