Ford Mustang wiring diagram for 1987-1993 Instrument Cluster
If you try to install a steering wheel 1990-1993 in a car 1987-1989, then the steering column must also be changed. All
connections will hook into the steering column with the exception of the harness from the steering wheel, which the Horn and cruise control signal. The wipers will not work if the switch is used on the 1990 -1993-1987-1989 harness. Test it with a multimeter will show you the wires that Ford wanted to move when the design of the switch is changed. All controls have the same wiring except the windshield wipers. After the correct wires are determined, it is an easy task to the wires in the connector by pressing down on the tab on the front of the plug and sliding the wire from the back. Then, the wire can be inserted in the hole previously unused connection on the plug.
If this process is much easier if you have an old harness of a 1990-1993, which comes from the instrument cluster. The wires should be as long as possible (6-8 inches), and they can be successfully wire tapped and soldered to the factory 1987-1989 harness.
