Ford Mobile Radio installation guidelines

Ford Motor Company vehicles are designed and tested for safe operation with correctly installed and used ground mobile/amateur radio communication materials with up to 100 Watts transmitter power.
Special considerations are included in all Ford vehicle electronic systems that provide immunity to radio frequency signals. For compatibility with electronic systems, two mobile-phone equipment must be installed by wayradio and well educated staff, observe these general guidelines:
-Power connections must be made directly to the battery and melted as close to the battery as possible. Avoid the use of cigar lighter receptacles or "Powerpoint" as power sources for radio equipment.
-Antennas for two-way radios should be mounted on the roof or the rearmost part of the vehicle. Care must be used in the mounting of antennas with magnetic bases, as magnets can affect the accuracy or functioning of the compass on vehicles, if so equipped.
-The antenna cable should high quality, fully shielded from the coaxial cable, and as short as practical held. Avoid the antenna cable routing in parallel with vehicle wiring over long distances.
-Carefully match the antenna and the cable to the radio to reach a low standing wave ratio (SWR) and avoid RF currents on the antenna cable shield.
